ANNOUNCEMENT
Wakefield got a new station in 2014. Or, depending on how you look at it, the old Wakefield Westgate moved a hundred yards or so nearer Leeds and got a smart makeover.
People entered and exited Wakefield from a slightly different angle, we got a new bridge that has turned into a kind of waiting room, a new little strip of local shops. Wakefield even got a new Wakefield, a yellow model town on sticks.
Wakefield Litfest put an ad in the Metro newspaper saying, Are you a regular user of Wakefield Westgate, would you like to write about it? Much to our surprise, people responded, half experienced writers, half first time writers.
Over the summer we mapped the new station and its people in stories.
We hope you enjoy the results and that next time you are in Wakefield Westgate, you might stop and take in the new station rather than rushing through.
